EXHIBITION
Bank of the Future
2024
VENUE
YEAR
The ANZ Gothic Bank is considered one of Victoria’s most significant heritage sites. To bring the stories about this building to life, Studio Peter King was engaged as the ANZ Banking Museum’s exhibition designer, working in collaboration with the ANZ Group archive, Foolscap and James Makin Advisory, to conceive displays that celebrated objects held within the ANZ Collection.
Studio Peter King led the development of the museum’s main themes, pairing them with complementary object displays. Many hours spent in the archives - working with the ANZ Group archivist Deborah - uncovered a variety of interesting objects that were connected in different ways to the themes explored in the permanent collection display. ‘Hero’ objects were selected to draw focus to these themes, including a bespoke cityscape model and a time-capsule clock.
In addition to undertaking the exhibition design for the museum, Studio Peter King was engaged to curate the inaugural temporary exhibition for the relaunched museum. Entitled Bank of the Future, this exhibition was researched and developed in collaboration with Lauren Lovett, exploring the technology innovations from ANZ’s past and speculating on the future of technology at the bank.
